Updated story to say the airline successfully launched its first scheduled flight on 28 April

State-owned Pelita Air Service has successfully launched its first scheduled service, which was a return flight from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Local media say the Airbus A320 scheduled service from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport departed yesterday morning, on 28 April, as planned.

Pelita Air Services until now has been a charter operator that uses fixed-wing regional aircraft and helicopters.

Dendy Kurniawan, the recently appointed president director of Pelita Air Service, says the Jakarta-Bali route will be a daily scheduled service, and tickets can be purchased through the airline’s travel agent partners.

He says they chose this route because it is a popular tourist destination for Indonesians, especially with the Eid al-Fitr Islam holiday period coming up.

Pelita Air Service has two Airbus A320s and plans to launch services to other destinations, says Kurniawan, without elaborating.

Local media outlet liputan6 quotes Muhammad Fauzani, Pelita Air Service director of finance and general affairs, as saying it intends to serve: Jogja, Surabaya, Denpasar, Medan, Banjarmasin and Makassar.
